What can you learn from a long drive swing?

The secret to hitting freakishly long drives becomes clear when you look at the force measurements. One of the most interesting elements of this graphic? Check out the gold balls at the bottom of the bottom two images. Those balls represent the center of mass of the club—and they show that this player (who swung 150 mph on this swing!) is actively pulling up toward his body down through impact. What does this mean for you? If you think pushing the handle toward the target is the way to hit it far, you’re always going to be the one hitting first in your group.
